Types of Printers
There are basically two types of printers, which are:
- Impact printers
- Non-impact printers
Impact printers
These are printers that print text or images when different keys strike the ink ribbon on paper similar to the way a typewriter works. They tend to be noisy when they are in use.
Examples of impact printers are:
- Dot-Matrix Printer: This type of printer has electromagnetically-driven print head that runs back and forth on the page and prints by striking an ink ribbon to form human readable characters and images on paper. They are very slow in operation and are also known as dot character printers.
