BROADCASTING
Broadcasting is the distribution of audio and video content to a dispersed audience via any electronic mass communication medium such as radio, television, etc.
The original term ‘broadcast’ refers to the literal ‘sowing of seeds’ on farms by scattering them over a wide field. Broadcasting forms a very large segment of the mass media. A broadcast may be distributed through several physical means.
In computer networking, broadcasting refers to the simultaneous distribution of the same information to many recipients, which is made possible when a transmitted data packet is received by all network devices.
A data packet means small unit of data. Breaking communication down into packets allows the same data path to be shared among many users in the network.
