Summary of Data and Information
Data is an unprocessed information, which could be alphabetic, numeric or symbolic.
There are basically two types of data, which are Quantitative data and Qualitative data.
Sources of data include Federal Office of Statistics, National Population Commission, Independent Electoral Commission, Examination Bodies, School Attendance Register, Bank Statement and so on.
Information is processed data.
Sources of information include the Radio, Television, Newspaper, Computer, etc.
Information is said to have good qualities when it is relevant, accurate, easily available, timely, comprehensive/complete, and reliable.
The processing of data into information consist a combination of activities and procedures, which include collecting, classifying, sorting, editing, calculating and translating.
