TYPES OF MOUSE
There are different types of mouse, basic among them are:
- Mechanical mouse: This has a rubber or metal ball on its underside that can roll in all directions. Mechanical sensors within the mouse detect the direction the ball is rolling and move the screen pointer accordingly. Today, mechanical mouse has been replaced by the optical mouse. It is also known as ball mouse.
- Optomechanical mouse: It is the same as a mechanical mouse, but uses optical sensors to detect motion of the ball.
- Optical mouse: This uses advance technology such as LED (light-emitting diode), optical sensor, and other DSP (digital signal processing) instead of the rubber mechanical mouse. The optical mouse detects the movement by the sensors that reflect light. Optical mouse has no mechanical moving parts. It responds more quickly and precisely than mechanical and optomechanical mouse, but it’s also more expensive.
