Summary of Processing of Plastics and Rubber

This chapter started by highlighting the differences between rubber and plastic

Plastics are known as a non-metallic lightweight material which comes in various colors and are produced from petroleum products known as monomers.

The two types of plastics; Thermosetting and Thermoplastic has been discussed in this chapter.

The methods of processing plastics which are Injection moulding, Compression moulding, Extrusion moulding, Calendering, and Vacuum mould have been fully explained.

Uses of plastics has also been treated in this chapter.

Rubber is a material which can be compressed or stretched.

The two types of rubber; Natural and Synthetic have been discussed in this chapter.

Method of processing rubber as well as uses of rubber have also been discussed.
